Chicago's highest rents

An older article I saved from the Chicago Tribune on neighborhoods in the Chicago area with the highest rents. http://www.chicagotribune.com/business/breaking/ct-chicago-apartment-ren... I'm not sure how accurate it is but there certainly are 1,200-2,000 1 BR apartments. Save your money...

Well I guess old feelings die hard: http://www.cnbc.com/2015/07/22/survey-says-real-estate-is-the-best-inves...
Interesting since cash is what Americans consider "2nd best" investment.

As an owner of a rental property, there are lots of things to know and do to be in compliance as a landlord. Municipal compliance (does it need to be licensed or inspected by the village, what is the appropriate notice if you run into problems with your tenant), lease compliance (what notice are you delivering at what time?), move-out/security deposit regulations (when do you have to return the deposit and how do you document what you may need to keep?). Does the tenant have to sign a crime free lease addendum (requires a certification) when they move-in? Trying to have a system in place and being as proactive as possible help with future problems down the road.
As a final thought I'd also adhere to the Golden Rule: do unto others as you would have them do unto you is a good policy of dealing with both sides of the relationships.
